The Muotkatunturien wilderness area is best suited for experienced, independent hikers. There are no marked trails here; instead, travelers navigate on their own skills through the fells, river valleys, and palsas.
For river paddlers, there is the upper branch of the Teno, the initially meandering Kaamasjoki as Kielasjoki, and the Vaskojoki. The map extends to the fjords of the western parts of Lake Inari.
