Fjällvandra i södra Lappland from Calazo förlag is a guidebook that offers suggestions for hiking tours in the mountains between Borgafjäll in the south and Hemavan in the north. These mountain areas are unknown to most but offer fantastic opportunities for the mountain hiker.
In the book, you find everything from easy day trips to more demanding long journeys with tents. The book's hikes are divided into the chapters: Hemavan and Tärnaby, Vojmådalen and surrounding areas, Kultsjödalen, and Borgafjäll and Borgabygden.
A whole chapter in the book is about the new long trail, Lapplandsleden. The trail's 190 km are described in detail with suggestions for stage division, information about cabins, suitable tent sites, and how to reach the various starting points along the trail.
The author and photographer Sam Hedman lives in Hemavan and has been hiking in the southern Lapland mountains since the 1980s. When Sam hikes, he prefers to follow old trails across the mountains or walks completely freely at a leisurely pace.
