MSR stands for Mountain Safety Research and the name itself clearly shows what kind of products it is - adventure equipment with the highest safety and quality. MSR was founded in Seattle in 1969 by engineer and rock climber Larry Penberthy, with the goal of creating better and more reliable equipment. Since then, MSR has opened the door to new and better adventures.
Developed by Adventurers for Adventurers
Behind MSR stand engineers and passionate adventurers drawing from their own experiences. Much of the manufacturing still takes place by hand under the same roof where the first ideas were developed.
Using Their Knowledge and Innovations for Global Improvement
Through MSR Global Health, the company works on developing innovations for countries with fewer resources. This idea emerged from the company's relief efforts following the major tsunami disaster in Southeast Asia in 2004. The same innovations created for challenging outdoor and adventure activities can be adapted to improve difficult conditions in poorer areas with significant basic human needs.
