When you're hiking, dry and comfortable feet are essential - that's why a pair of really good hiking shoes or hiking boots is important. Choose the material, membrane and shaft height depending on where and for how long you will be hiking. A pair of low hiking shoes gives you more freedom of movement, but a pair of higher hiking boots gives you support and protection against sharp branches and bushes.
