Hoka One One was the first shoe brand to launch "oversized" midsoles and was founded in France in 2009 but today has American owners. Hoka shoes and running shoes are made for all types of runners, from joggers to competitive runners, and have become hugely successful due to their special soles.

Hoka was founded in France in 2009 but is now a U.S. owned. The name means "to fly down the mountain" and the concept was born during an ultramarathon on Etna in Sicily, when Frenchman Jean-Luc Diard discovered that he could run faster downwards thanks to the extra cushion the soft volcanic sand gave. He decided to design a shoe that had this experience built-in.
